The report, linked on the Judicial Watch website, includes these highlights:

The largest increase in assaults on U.S. agents and officers was in the San Diego district, where attacks rose 48 percent from 2007 to 2008.

There were 147 incursions at or between ports of entry for Customs and Border Protection components in 2008, up from 32 in 2007, an explosive rise of 359 percent.

There were 1,325 incidents of violence occurring at or between the Ports of Entry against CBP agents and officers, resulting in a 23 percent increase from 1,073 in FY 2007.

Ninety-seven percent of all incidents of violence against CBP agents and officers occurred on the southwest border.

There were 227 assaults against CBP officers at the Ports of Entry in FY 2008 as compared to 85 in FY 2007, an increase of 167 percent.

Secretary of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano, already under fire for a department report condemning those who oppose abortion, worry about lax border security or support the 2nd Amendment as "extremists," recently turned down an offer for increased funding from the Senate Committee on Homeland Defense to address the problem of violence on the southern border.

According to The Right Jack, a primary goal of this Democrat administration is to open the borders to generate new Democrat voters. Given that goal, how long do you think this administration will take to make sure that these people become eligible voters.

Miss PC America Beauty Contest

It appears that the leading 2009 Miss America contestant from Texas lost her chance to win the title during the judging when she was ambushed by a gay judge. Miss Texas gave the wrong "political" answer to the gay marriage question.

Based on this ambush, it seems to me that this contest needs to clarify or redefine its eligibility criteria. It is dead wrong to change the rules of the contest during or after the fact. In this case, it should have been stated up front that the contestants must support gay marriage to enter and win this beauty contest.

Suppose a few federal income tax laws were changed after the April 15 deadline. Then taxpayers were fined for not following the rules. Holy 1040 TaxMan.

Suppose we played a championship football game and changed the point value for a touchdown … after the game. Yikes. Fans would go bonkers. Soccer fans would start a riot were this to happen.

If being politically correct is a necessary qualification in this Miss America contest, then it should be clearly stated up front. Make it clear to the contestants that they must support gay marriage or any other pre-qualification that the judges deem important. ... The Right Jack

We have seen the story about the female US-Iranian citizen who has been sentenced to eight years in prison in Iran for spying. Quite naturally, most Americans would assume that she is innocent.

Consider this. Given the massive support in and cover-ups by the US media for the Obama administration, it would be quite natural for foreign nations to suspect any US media person of spying for the current US administration. ... The Right Jack

NPR and Mexican Guns From USA

Update on previous post by The Right Jack

On Friday April 17, 2009, NPR presented a story that was counter to the Fox News article about the source of guns in the Mexican drug wars. See earlier April post here.

First, it has been widely distributed by the Big Time Dying Media and Democrats in the administration that 90 per cent of the drug guns in Mexico have come from the United States. This has been stated repeatedly and yet again by our current Homeland Security czar the week of April 13th.

Fox shed light on that story weeks ago by noting that the 90 per cent figure is accurate. However, here is the Fox proviso. The Mexican government seizes guns. Then, those they believe to have originated in the USA are sent back to the USA for inspection and verification. Of those guns sent back to the USA, 90 per cent are confirmed to have come from the USA. They wrote that this represents about 13 per cent of the guns seized by the government in Mexico.

Again, the BIG however is, guns from the USA represent only a fraction of the guns that come into Mexico - perhaps 13 per cent. Thousands more come into Mexico from gun runners through South America, Europe and the Middle East. Guns of all types are readily available on the so-called free market, THEY say.

According to the expert in the NPR version of the truth, the Fox 90 per cent number is pretty accurate. However, he stated that this 90 per cent figure represents ALL guns that come into Mexico. Yet, this NPR expert noted that many guns do come into Mexico from other non-US sources. He then estimated that as many as two-thirds of the guns coming into Mexico are NOT from the USA. Still, he confirmed again that the 90 per cent figure was pretty close to accurate.

So, you do the math.

IF nearly one-third of the seized guns come into Mexico from the USA, and two-thirds of the seized guns come into Mexico from other nations, then what. Well, less than 30 per cent of the drug guns that are seized come from the USA. That leaves over 70 per cent of the drug guns coming in from other nations.

The interesting finale to his story involves his shoddy math. He stated that the real number of US drug guns in Mexico is closer to 90 percent than 13 per cent. This means that 30 per cent is closer to 90 per cent than is 13 per cent. And this passes for reporting on NPR.

THEY will say anything and their friends in the media will not challenge the accuracy of their proclamations. We need fact checkers for every statistic they utter.

Never Ever Be Late

A local priest was being honored at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the parish.

A leading local politician and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and to give a little speech at the dinner.

However, he was delayed so the priest decided to say his own few words while they waited:

"I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. The very first person who entered my confessional told me he had stolen a television set and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it. He had also stolen money from his parents, embezzled from his employer, had an affair with his best friend's wife, and taken illicit drugs. I was appalled.

"But as the days went on I learned that my people were not all like that and I had, indeed, come to a fine parish full of good and loving people."

Just as the priest finished his talk, the politician arrived full of apologies for being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and said: "I'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived. In fact, I had the honor of being the first person to go to him for confession."

Moral: Never, never, NEVER-EVER be late.

Government Fails – Citizens Do the Job

Local residents and business owners in Kauai, Hawaii replaced the bridge to Polihale State Park that was destroyed by local flooding. Why did they do it? Their businesses would have been in ruin. Why? The state government of Hawaii was not going to replace the bridge for at least two years at a cost of $4 million. The locals did it in eight days at no cost with no government involvement. According to The Right Jack, claims by US Government officials in 2009 are that 90 per cent of the guns in Mexico originate in the USA. This Fox News report shows that to be untrue. Counter claims are that these false figures put forth by 2009 US government officials and the media are being used to weaken the 2nd amendment. Quotes from the Fox article that follow show that around 83 per cent of the guns in Mexico come from places like China, North Korea, Spain, Israel and Russia.

“In 2007-2008, according to ATF Special Agent William Newell, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced -- and of those, 90 percent -- 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover -- were found to have come from the U.S.

But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.

In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.”
