As I relaxed in the living room reading the paper, I heard my wife in the kitchen say:
"What would you like for dinner tonight sweetie, chicken, beef, or fish?"
I called back to the kitchen: "Oh, chicken sounds good."
Moments later, I heard my wife say:
"Not you nitwit, I was talking to the cat!"

Get ready for massive gas tax
Grassfire Nation News Alert
4/21/2010
Get ready for a massive gas tax. See below...
As we noted to you a few days ago, the Cap and Tax Energy Tax is set to be unveiled on Monday. It's the start of the full-court press to expand government control over the energy and manufacturing sectors of the economy -- and impose a huge "global warming" tax on every American consumer.
Details are starting to leak out. Here's some of what Reuters is reporting...
--Cap and Trade regulation of the utilities in 2012,
creating a pass-through utilities tax for consumers...
--Manufacturers come in line in 2016, causing American
products to have a built-in carbon tax that, once
again, is passed on to consumers...
--Green carbon "offsets" which amount to nothing
more than a global warming guilt offering...
--Tariffs on overseas products, which is an admission
that the Cap and Tax scheme will greatly increase
the cost of goods produced in the United States
and reduce our global competitiveness...
And here's the kicker...
--A new "fee" (i.e. tax) on refined motor fuels
(i.e. gasoline) as "the mechanism for reducing
carbon emissions in the transportation sector" (Reuters).
While we do not yet know how large this gas tax
will be, it must be large enough to cause people
to use less gasoline in order to achieve the goal
of "reducing carbon emissions."
A carbon tax on utilities, manufacturing and gasoline... all passed on to consumers.
+ + Just 15,000 petitions short of goal
A few days ago, Grassfire Nation announced that we will hand-deliver citizen petitions to every Senate office, beginning next Monday when the bill is announced.
Tens of thousands have responded and now we need just 15,000 petitions to reach the goal of 300,000.
+ + ObamaCare strategy being repeated
There is more evidence that the Senate is planning on using the ObamaCare strategy to pass the Cap and Tax Energy Tax. Step One starts on Monday with the "unofficial" release of the bill. The bill will not actually be "introduced" into the Senate so that Sen. Reid can take it directly to the Senate floor and skip the Committee process -- just like ObamaCare
After that, it gets worse...
If the Reid backroom deal succeeds, pundits are saying Reid and Pelosi would wait until after the election to pass the final version -- to avoid having the final vote on a massive tax increase before the November elections.
But it all begins on Monday...
If you want to express your voice on this issue
to your two Senators starting Monday -- with
your petitions hand-delivered to their offices -- go here:
http://www.grassfire.net/r.asp?u=27231&RID=23082903
Again, if the goal of 300,000 petitions is reached by April 26, the petitions will be hand-delivered to every Senate office, meaning your two U.S. Senators will receive a copy of your petition on the same day the bill is "announced."
This is the best way to get your petition directly to your Senators.
The "cap and tax" energy tax will impose a massive tax on the American people and give the government draconian control over even the air we breathe.
Thank you for taking action.
Your friends at Grassfire Nation
P.S. Please forward this to your friends and urge them to sign the petition and help us reach 300,000 signers in time for the bill announcement on April 26. If the goal is reached, petitions will begin being hand-delivered on that day:

HB 1388 PASSED
HB 1388 PASSED!!
You just spent $20,000,000 to move members/supporters of Hamas, a terrorist organization, to the United States; they get housing, food, the whole enchilada.
Whether you are an Obama fan or not, EVERYONE IN THE US needs to know ....
H.R. 1388 was passed, behind our backs. You may want to read about it. It was not mentioned on the news. Just went by on the ticker scroll at the bottom of the CNN Screen.
Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the USA. This is the news that didn't make the headlines ...
By Executive Order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza.
The "presidential determination," which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States, was signed and appears in the Federal Register.
Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.
Let's review ... itemized list of some of Barack Obama's most recent actions since his inauguration:
His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.
His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.
He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.
He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.
Hasan terrorist killings at Fort Hood - investigation muffled.
Obama withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.
Now we learn that Obama is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.
These important and insightful issues are being "lost" in the blinding bail-outs and "stimulation" packages while Cap and Tax and illegal Immigration are in the works.
To verify this for yourself: www.thefederalregister.com/d.p/2009-02-04-E9-2488
PLEASE PASS THIS ON. AMERICA NEEDS TO KNOW
We are losing this country at a rapid pace.

Axelrod reveals too much
Tea Partiers Get Valuable Lesson from … David Axelrod
Some of the steam went out of the opposition after that [Brown’s victory]. … I think that people felt like they had made a statement. Perhaps they felt like they had killed health care reform … They thought the fight was over. And that [the president] couldn’t now succeed. I do believe that. And it is almost as if they had made the statement that they thought they had stopped the thing. And so it created a breathing space for us to regroup. --- David Axelrod

Market crash possible
George Soros says that we are heading toward a market crash
Railway porter-turned-billionaire financier George Soros delivered a stark warning that the financial world is on the wrong track and that it may be hurtling toward an even bigger boom and bust than in the credit crisis.

About SNOPES.COM
Update: Truth or Fiction says that this story is Fiction
About SNOPES.COM
Who watches the watchers? Snopes.com liberal bent revealed.
For the past few years www.snopes.com has positioned itself, or others have labeled it, as the "tell-all final word" on any comment, claim and email. But for several years people tried to find out who exactly was behind www.snopes.com.
Only recently did Wikipedia get to the bottom of it - kinda made you wonder what they were hiding.
Well, finally we know. It is run by a husband and wife team - that's right, no big office of investigators and researchers, no team of lawyers. It's just a mom-and pop operation that began as a hobby. David and Barbara Mikkelson in the San Fernando Valley of California started the website about 13 years ago - and they have no formal background or experience in investigative research. After a few years it gained popularity believing it to be unbiased and neutral, but over the past couple of years people started asking questions who was behind it and did they have a selfish motivation?
The reason for the questions - or skepticisms - is a result of www.snopes.com claiming to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issue when in fact they have been proven wrong. Also, there were criticisms the Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the "true" bottom of various issues.
A few months ago, when my State Farm agent Bud Gregg in Mandeville hoisted a political sign referencing Barack Obama and made a big splash across the internet, "supposedly" the Mikkelsons claim to have researched this issue before posting their findings on www.snopes.com. In their statement they claimed the corporate office of State Farm pressured Gregg into taking down the sign, when in fact nothing of the sort "ever" took place.
I personally contacted David Mikkelson (and he replied back to me) thinking he would want to get to the bottom of this and I gave him Bud Gregg's contact phone numbers - and Bud was going to give him phone numbers to the big exec's at State Farm in Illinois who would have been willing to speak with him about it. He never called Bud. In fact, I learned from Bud Gregg no one from www.snopes.com ever contacted anyone with State Farm. Yet, www.snopes.com issued a statement as the "final factual word" on the issue as if they did all their homework and got to the bottom of things - not!
Then it has been learned the Mikkelsons are Democrats and extremely liberal. As we all now know from this presidential election, liberals have a purpose agenda to discredit anything that appears to be conservative. There has been much criticism lately over the internet with people pointing out the Mikkelsons liberalism revealing itself in their website findings. Gee, what a shock?
So, I say this now to everyone who goes to www.snopes.com to get what they think to be the bottom line facts ... "proceed with caution." Take what it says at face value and nothing more. Use it only to lead you to their references where you can link to and read the sources for yourself. Plus, you can always Google a subject and do the research yourself. It now seems apparent that's all the Mikkelsons do. After all, I can personally vouch from my own experience for their 'not' fully looking into things.
www.wikipedia.org
www.snopes.com
Truth or Fiction's web-site www.truthorfiction.com
I have found this to be true also! Many videos of Obama I tried to verify on Snopes and they said they were False. Then they gave their Liberal slant!!! I have suspected some problems with snopes for some time now, but I have only caught them in half-truths. If there is any subjectivity they do an immediate full left rudder. Truth or Fiction's web-site www.truthorfiction.com is a better source for verification, in my opinion.
I have recently discovered that is www.snopes.com owned by a flaming liberal and this man is in the tank for Obama. There are many things they have listed on their site as a hoax and yet you can go to YouTube yourself and find the video of Obama actually saying these things. So you see, you cannot and should not trust www.snopes.com for anything that remotely resembles truth (SIC ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO LIBERAL vs CONSERVATIVE CONCERNS)! I don't even trust them to tell me if email chains are hoaxes anymore.
A few conservative speakers on MySpace told me about www.snopes.com a few months ago and I took it upon myself to do a little research to find out if it was true. Well, I found out for myself that it is true. Anyway just FYI, please don't use www.snopes.com anymore for fact checking and make your friends aware of their political leanings as well. Many people still think www.snopes.com is neutral and they can be trusted as factual. We need to make sure everyone is aware that that is a hoax in itself. Thank you,

The vote for fellons
It is all about numbers
It looks as though John Conyers has sponsored HR 3335, a bill seeks to put felons back on the voter rolls. I guess his wife, who is currently serving a prison sentence, reported back that there are oodles of votes for the left all over the prison yard.
Who co-sponsored the bill? Alcee Hastings – a former federal judge removed from the bench on corruption charges. Charlie Rangel – the tax cheat. Barney Frank - the guy who claimed he had no idea his boyfriend was running a brothel out of his apartment. I’m not sure this is the same boyfriend he fixed parking tickets for, when you look like Barney Frank you have to do all sorts of illegal things to keep yourself surrounded by boy toys.
In 2000 in Florida, around 5,000 convicts voted illegally, about 80% of whom were registered Democrats. Had the over 600,000 felons in Florida been able to vote legally, they would easily have overcome George Bush’s slim margin of victory. In the 2004 gubernatorial election in Washington, the Seattle Times found 129 voters who were confirmed to have voted illegally, in just the two counties they surveyed. That year, the Democrat won the race by 129 votes. In states that allow some form of felon voting, Bill Clinton won 86% of the felon vote in 1992 and 93% in 1996.
A study by Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota discovered that Democrats could have turned numerous defeats at the ballot box into victories by giving the vote to convicted felons. For example, Republican Senators John Warner of Virginia and John Tower of Texas would never have first won election in 1978 if felons had voted in those elections, which would have given Democrats a 60 vote super-majority. The Republican Senate majorities of 4-10 seats from 1994-2004 would never have happened; instead the Democrats would have held majorities of the same margin.

Parable: Golden egg
The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg
An Aesop Fable
A man and his wife owned a very special goose. Every day the goose would lay a golden egg, which made the couple very rich.
"Just think," said the man's wife, "If we could have all the golden eggs that are inside the goose, we could be richer much faster."
"You're right," said her husband, "We wouldn't have to wait for the goose to lay her egg every day."
So, the couple killed the goose and cut her open, only to find that she was just like every other goose. She had no golden eggs inside of her at all, and they had no more golden eggs.
Moral: Too much greed results in nothing.
US Moral: Our Big Government Democrats missed this lesson when growing up. They can confiscate all of the income of the top 1% of the US wage arners and it will not pay for the debt that Democrats have created with their big entitlement initiatives. When all wage earners and tax payers have no money, where will the funds come from to pay for these massive entitlements.
By the way, you do know that Big Democrat Government is putting forth these massive entitlement programs in order to create voters who are dependent of Big Democrat Government. So, read the fable again. This time, pay attention.

Fonts that save ink
Here's a legal way to print money: change the font
By DINESH RAMDE, Associated Press Writer
Tue Apr 6, 4:17 pm ET
MILWAUKEE – Here's a way you might save $20 this year: Change the font in the documents you print.
Because different fonts require different amounts of ink to print, you could be buying new printer cartridges less often if you wrote in, say, Century Gothic rather than Arial. Schools and businesses could save thousands of dollars with font changes.
Data on the subject from Printer.com, a Dutch company that evaluates printer attributes, persuaded the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to make a switch. Diane Blohowiak, coordinator of information-technology user support, has asked faculty and staff to use Century Gothic for all printed documents. The school also plans to change its e-mail system so it uses Century Gothic.
"The feedback we've gotten so far has been positive," she said. "Century Gothic is very readable."
The school of 6,500 students spends about $100,000 per year on ink and toner cartridges. Although students and staff can change the default font to something more ink-intensive, Blohowiak said the university expects to save $5,000 to $10,000 per year with the font switch.
When Printer.com tested popular fonts for their ink-friendly ways, Century Gothic and Times New Roman topped the list. Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif were next, followed by Trebuchet, Tahoma and Franklin Gothic Medium. Century Gothic uses about 30 percent less ink than Arial.
= = = = =
Least amount of ink used:
Century Gothic
Times New Roman
Calibri
Verdana
Arial
= = = = =
The amount of ink a font drains is mainly driven by the thickness of its lines. A font with "narrow" or "light" in its name is usually better than its "bold" or "black" counterpart, said Thom Brown, an ink researcher at Hewlett-Packard Co., the world's top maker of printers.
Also, serif fonts — those with short horizontal lines at the top and bottom of characters — tend to use thinner lines and thus less ink than a "sans serif" counterpart.
But while using less ink at home can help you buy roughly one fewer printer cartridge each year, it's not necessarily better for the environment.
That's because some fonts that use less ink, including Century Gothic, are also wider. A document that's one page in Arial could extend to a second page if printed in Century Gothic. Blohowiak said her research suggests that ink comprises the main cost of a printout, but the environmental costs of paper are probably higher.
"Maybe the individual characters use less ink, but if you're using more paper, that's not so green, is it?" said Allan Haley, director of "words and letters" at Monotype Imaging Inc. in Woburn, Mass., which developed Century Gothic.
Also, Century Gothic was designed for limited blocks of text such as titles and headlines, not for full documents, said Haley, who describes fonts as his "children." Despite Printer.com's research and UW-Green Bay's experience, Haley said he still recommends Times New Roman or Arial for their readability.
The standard advice for trimming printing expenses still applies: Print in "draft mode," if you can. Use both sides of a page and do a print preview to make sure you're not printing pages with useless text such as a copyright line. Using an ink-saving font is just one more technique to consider.
And the greenest way to save on ink is not to print at all.
That's the philosophy Microsoft Corp. said it uses in deciding which fonts to include in its Outlook and Word applications. The more pleasing a font looks on the screen, the less tempted someone will be to print, said Simon Daniels, a program manager for Microsoft's typography group.
That's why the company changed its defaults in Office 2007 from Arial and Times New Roman to Calibri and Cambria, he said.
"We're trying to move the threshold of when people hit the print button," he said.

Hare raising story
A man is driving along a highway and sees a rabbit jump out across the middle of the road.
He swerves to avoid hitting it, but unfortunately the rabbit jumps right in front of the car.
The driver, a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulls over and gets out to see what has become of the rabbit.
Much to his dismay, the rabbit is the Easter Bunny, and he is DEAD.
The driver feels so awful that he begins to cry.
A beautiful blonde woman driving down the highway sees a man crying on the side of the road and pulls over. She steps out of the car and asks the man what's wrong.
"I feel terrible," he explains, "I accidentally hit the Easter Bunny with my car and KILLED HIM."
The blonde says,"Don't worry."
She runs to her car and pulls out a spray can. She walks over to the limp, dead Easter Bunny, bends down, and sprays the contents onto him.
The Easter Bunny jumps up, waves its paw at the two of them and hops off down the road.
Ten feet away he stops, turns around and waves again, he hops down the road another 10 feet, turns and waves, hops another ten feet, turns and waves, and repeats this again and again and again and again, until he hops out of sight.
The man is astonished. He runs over to the woman and demands,
"What is in that can?
What did you spray on the Easter Bunny?"
The woman turns the can around so that the man can read the label.
It says..
(Are you ready for this?)
(Are you sure?)
(Last chance)
(OK, here it is)
It says,
"Hair Spray
Restores life to dead hair, and adds permanent wave."
Happy Easter To All!!
