Biden rips ice cream store owner
Yes, the gaffe-prone vice president with the notoriously salty tongue did it again over the weekend during a visit to a custard shop in Glendale, Wis., with Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.).
After Biden asked what he owed for his tasty frozen treat, Kopp's Frozen Custard manager Scott Borkin quipped, "Don't worry, it's on the house. ... Lower our taxes and we'll call it even."
Biden initially brushed off Borkin's comment — but then circled back to the manager and asked, "Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smart ass all the time?"

Czech comment on Obama

New home sales down 33% nationwide in May 2010. Big Time Dying Democrat Media continues to paint a rosey picture of the US economy.
Some oil skimming ships were not permitted to operate in the Gulf. Why? During the process of separating oil from water, some droplets of oil would have been put back in the Gulf with the water. Emphasis on small droplets. More Democrat obstructionism to the oil cleanup.
Obama and the Democrats kept Gulf oil skimmer ships in port to check on safety issues like life jackats. However, Officials never did the safety checks. After this critical delay, they released the skimmer ships to go do their work. Is there no end to Democrat misdeeds.
Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis suggests that "every worker in America has a right to be paid fairly whether they are documented or not." TRJ says: This is just another Democrat strategy to further tax and bring down business and cripple the US economy. 6/22/10
Obama's socialist plans for the US economy are not to spread the wealth but to spread the misery.

USA remains the top manufacturing nation 110 years running. China is a close second but is expected to surpass the USA in 2011. Any wonder. Look at all of the government rules and regulations that US firms must follow in order to stay in business. Of course, you realize that US firms are ahead of schedule for reducing greenhouse gases without Cap and Trade regulations while other nations just ignore those global emission goals completely. And we are still #1. Let's hear if for US business and capitalism.
Day 60. The BP VP caught all kinds of grief from the media for attending a yachting competition on Saturday while the oil spill was flowing. Obama and Biden played golf the same day. BP got all of the flack. The golfers got a free pass. Gov. Bobby Jindal [R-LA] seems to be the only executive on the job. June 19, 2010

Congressional Democrats continue to show their ignorance as they bash and criticize BP oil exec with questions that demonstrate their total lack of knowledge about deep drilling and government regulations that BP and other oil producers follow. Rant to my Congressman
To my Democrat Congressman from the right jack
Have not sent you anything recently. If we Seniors play this right, we will all do our best to see that Democrats do not win an elective office in our area again. Of course, we will make sure our children and grandchildren know this as well. They are in PA NC SC with other relatives in OH and CA.
Democrats are toast come November 2010.
Dissent is good. It is an obligation since your Democrat policies are to overwhelm and then destroy the US economy thus creating a permanent welfare state. Just refer back to the rants of Hillary Clinton against Bush 43.

Why the stimulus has failed

The Left like these stimulus bills because they get to use big government to allocate massive sums of money to their favorite projects and interest groups. But this approach never improves the economy, because the underlying Keynesian economics are wrong…
Trickle-down bureaucracy does not create wealth. Obama’s stimulus simply borrowed close to $1 trillion from the private economy to pour a trillion back in through increased government spending, producing no net economic gain.
They also present data that shows Obamanomics actually threatens America’s economic recovery:
The recession officially began in December 2007, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research. The average recession since World War II has lasted ten months, with the longest spanning sixteen months. But the Bush-Obama recession lasted almost two years thanks to the outdated Keynesian policies adopted by both presidents…Moreover, the weak rebound violates a historic rule: the deeper the recession the stronger the recovery. Based on the severity of the past recession, real growth over 2010 should be 6-8 percent…
Obama’s high tax, high spending approach along with the Fed’s easy money, cheap dollar policies…are policies for long-term economic stagnation, and perhaps another, even deeper recession. If they are not completely replaced with pro-growth alternatives, we will suffer less opportunity, less upward mobility, and a long-term decline in America’s standard of living...
Newt and Peter then outline a set of proposals that would reinvigorate the American economy and cut unemployment from 10 down to 3-4 percent. In addition to substantial spending cuts and a robust energy plan, their proposals include:
Slash the corporate tax rate to 12.5%, matching Ireland;
Abolish capital gains taxes to match China;
Cut federal payroll taxes for two years followed by a permanent personal account option for younger workers;
Abolish the death tax;
Allow for 100 percent expensing of new equipment purchases by businesses, stimulating investment in new, productive technologies;
Repeal the disastrous mark-to-market accounting that exacerbated the financial crisis;
Break up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and move their successors back to the free market;
Adopt a strong monetary policy, ensuring lower interest rates and more long-term capital investment.

The disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior involving putting your cranium up your rectum. Many victims contracted it in 2008 ... but now most people, after having been infected for the past 1-2 years, are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.
It's sad because Gonorrhea Lectim is easily cured with a new drug just coming on the market called Votemout. You take the first dose in 2010 and the second dose in 2012 and simply don't engage in such behavior again; otherwise, it could become permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it.

Rocket Science?
Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!!
Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.
British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers.
When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.
The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists for suggestions. You are gonna love this.
NASA responded with a one-line memo . . .
"Defrost the chicken."

PC censors 8 year old
PC policy censors 8 year old
A Rhode Island Elementary school student wanted to honor the American troops to fulfill a class assignment. He decorated a camo-style baseball cap with toy soldiers. The school “censored” his tribute and would not allow it to be displayed. Why? The toy soldiers that were glued to the cap had guns. These tiny plastic “guns” violate the school’s no guns policy.
Not long ago, another school censored an elementary school student when he used his index finger to simulate a gun, as kids do.
Keep in mind that it is politically correct to burn the American Flag and make terrorist threats if you are NOT an American in America. Oops. So can union thugs.

Media people jump to Obama Administration
Are you still in the dark as to why the big time dying media looks at Obama and the Democrats in such a favorable light. Well, they are all Democrats. Our foundational principle of "Freedom of the Press" does not apply to free and unbiased thought and reporting.
Various estimates have revealed that as many as 90% of the media people are Democrats. It is any wonder that Obama gets a pass on nearly every action and decision made. On the other hand, Bush and nearly all Republicans are taken to task by the media for every action and decision made. Their media are also central players in the Democrat playbook. It is the chapter on the politics of personal destruction.

Roberta Baskin: Former senior investigative producer for ABC News' "20/20" and for CBS "48 Hours" chief investigative correspondent left to become senior communications adviser in the Department of Health and Human Service's office of inspector general.
Warren Bass: A Washington Post deputy editor left to become adviser to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
Daren Briscoe: Former Washington reporter for Newsweek became deputy associate director of public affairs for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Jay Carney: Former Washington bureau chief for Time magazine who became assistant to the vice president and director of communications for Vice President Joe Biden.
Teddy Davis: Former ABC News deputy political director who became SEIU assistant director of communications.

Various estimates have revealed that as many as 90% of the media people are Democrats. It is any wonder that Obama gets a pass on nearly every action and decision made. On the other hand, Bush and nearly all Republicans are taken to task by the media for every action and decision made. Their media are also central players in the Democrat playbook. It is the chapter on the politics of personal destruction.
Below are the names of media people who have jumped from the media to positions in the Democrat administration. This has being tracked by the Media Resource Center.
Ed Chen is now the 16th major media figure to join the Obama administration or aligned unions and left-wing environmental groups. According to Brent Baker, vice president of research at the Media Research Center, the 15 other figures include the following:
Teddy Davis: Former deputy political director for ABC News joined the left-leaning Service Employees International Union, or SEIU. The group endorsed Obama and has worked to advance the president's agenda.
Roberta Baskin: Former senior investigative producer for ABC News' "20/20" and for CBS "48 Hours" chief investigative correspondent left to become senior communications adviser in the Department of Health and Human Service's office of inspector general.
Warren Bass: A Washington Post deputy editor left to become adviser to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
Daren Briscoe: Former Washington reporter for Newsweek became deputy associate director of public affairs for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Jay Carney: Former Washington bureau chief for Time magazine who became assistant to the vice president and director of communications for Vice President Joe Biden.
Teddy Davis: Former ABC News deputy political director who became SEIU assistant director of communications.
Linda Douglass: ABC News Washington correspondent and former CBS News reporter who became a senior strategist and senior campaign spokesperson for the Obama campaign. She was also assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services and a spokesman for Obama's health reform. Douglass left the Obama administration in April.
Kate Albright-Hanna: Former CNN producer who became "new media" director for the Obama campaign and worked on Obama's transition website.
Peter Gosselin: Los Angeles Times Washington correspondent who became a speechwriter for Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

Federal spending dampens local economy
A Harvard research study reveals that Federal spending back home [i.e., grants, earmarks, etc] by politicians actually depresses the local economy. The line that we have heard for decades is that our House and Senate representatives bring money "back home" and that is good. This study contradicts that line. http://bit.ly/cjPMf3.

Obama backlash has started
The Backlash has started! IN CHICAGO
Chicago on Thursday just as B. Obama was arriving and got into a terrible traffic jam. I haven't seen this on the nightly news or any of the networks.
Right in Obama's back yard!!
I didn't see ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC covering this – did you?
Wonder why ... Those who have visited Chicago will recognize the downtown area.

This week the White House announced $234 million in grants to Americorps and other "service"-oriented nonprofits through the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. The press release reports:
Together with other positions in AmeriCorps VISTA and NCCC, AmeriCorps is on track to support more than 85,000 members this year, the first step towards the Serve America Act goal of 250,000 annual AmeriCorps members by the year 2017.
These numbers do not approach the perhaps hyperbolic remark by candidate Obama in July 2008 that "[w]e've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded [as our military]." But a force of 250,000 is not insignificant; our Marine Corps numbers 203,000.
Analysis of the 2010 disbursements reveals gross inequalities among the states. As with ARRA stimulus money, blue states were the big winners. Overall, states that voted for Obama in 2008 garnered 81% of Ted Kennedy Serve America funding, while red states were thrown a bone of the remaining 19%.
The way the program redistributes federal tax receipts is not even a case of "spreading the wealth around"; many of the wealthiest states receive the most funding. Massachusetts, 6th out of 50 in median household income, receives twelve times the funding of West Virginia, 49th out of 50. The District of Columbia, with 600,000 residents, receives 18 times the funding of Alabama, population 4.7 million. In other words, D.C. ranks 11th in median household income, and it receives 140 times as much funding per capita as Alabama, which is 46th out of 50.

Obama lets the oil flow in Gulf
SOMETHING GOING ON HERE THAT'S NOT QUITE COPASETIC
Consider:
-Natural oil eating bacteria was successfully used to clean up the ocean and shores after the Exxon Valdez accident. To date, the company which produces up to 200,000 gallons a day of the oil eating bacteria has not had their phone calls returned by Obama's White House or BP.
-Kevin Costner has a small fleet of oil cleaning centrifuges at the ready. This device actually recovers lost oil. Again, Obama's White House is dithering and BP will not return Costner's appeals. Costner testified in front of Congress that he was ready to help on day one of the spill over 50 days ago.
-The Dutch government offered to help with the spill on day one. Obama and BP told them "no thanks" over 50 days ago. The Dutch have fleets of oil recovery barges and sand berm protection floats at the ready. Over 50 days of dithering.
-BP's first attempted fix was to drop a 4 story tall steel & concrete box on the leak. The siphon on the top of the box froze and would not take up the oil. Okay...so??? How bout leaving the damn 4 story concrete box on top of the leaking pipes?
-A 1920 maritime law prevents the US Navy from deploying any assistance to the scene. Obama could wave this relic law of the sea and use the Navy's expertise in deep waters. Obama will not waive the law. Why not? If Ted Kennedy can call in the US Navy to find JFK Jr's downed airplane, how come Obama cannot call in the Navy? What is stopping him?
-Governor Jindal has been begging Obama for supplies to shield his state's beaches. Over 50 days after the request Obama is still dithering.
-Obama declared a State of Emergency for the non-existent threat of Swine Flu. Governor Jindal declared a State of Emergency...how come Obama has not?
These are but a few of the many things Obama could be doing. Instead, he is looking for someone's "ass to kick" and feigning anger.
During the Iraq War, President Bush sent in Red Adair's oil capping company into Kuwait. Red Adair's private company capped 628 sabotaged, booby-trapped, and blown up burning rigs in less than 9 months.
Obama has capped exactly 0 oil wells in almost 2 months. Is Obama and the Democrats prolonging this oil spill to go on in order to further their "No Drilling in the USA" energy policy.

Obama Administration Tells Patriot Guard: "Get Lost"
There was a memorial service two days ago in Beckley, West Virginia for the 29 coal miners who died at the nearby Upper Big Branch mine April 5th. Twenty-eight hundred people attended the service. Most of them were there to pay their respects and console the grieving. At least a couple of them were there to make symbolic, political appearances.
Many of the working class men who died were military veterans and some of them rode motorcycles. A source has told this page that "Families of the miners killed in the explosion had requested the Patriot Guard Riders attend." The Patriot Guard Riders is an informal club of veteran motorcyclists which exists to make sure that all veterans are given respectful funerals.
They were banned from this service by federal officials because those officials believe the Patriot Guard is a security threat!
Cleared With Governor
The appearance of the Patriot Guard at the service, at the request of at least several families, was cleared by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin. Travis Mollohan, a senior aide to the Governor worked with the Patriot Riders to arrange a staging location.
The day before the service, Joe Cumblidge, the West Virginia State Captain of the Patriot Guards emailed the men who were scheduled to participate:
"Due to circumstances totally and completely beyond the control of the Patriot Guard Riders and Governor Joe Manchin of West Virginia, we are regrettably ordering a STAND DOWN for this mission. Specific details will not be posted here but, we've been told we are not welcome to participate because of certain high-level dignitaries that are scheduled to be in attendance."

Who'd have guessed (sarcasm)! Obama and his Homeland Security lackey, Napolitano, declare that returning combat vets are potential terrorist threats and now disallows a group of mostly vets, who the miners' families requested - the only group in the country (volunteers, all) that will stand in honor of any vet from any era, plus cops and firefighters, at any time and in any place and in any weather - from attending the memorial service!
Barry's defenders are saying it's because the Secret Service couldn't risk it; didn't know who might be in the group. But there were 2,800 people there, from around the state and even beyond, and the SS didn't know who might be among that throng either. It was a disgraceful, contemptuous slap in every veteran's face, especially combat vets and, even more so, those who've shed blood and/or died for our country.
Reminds me of how the left-wing liberals label Tea Party events as racist and mob-like, which video evidence proves they are not.
The left-wing liberals own pro-immigration and pro-abortion and anti-gun rallies are seething with hate and racism and incitement!
Each one of those flag-bearing veterans would have stood silently at attention throughout the memorial no matter how long - many with silent tears trickling down their face, and when it was over, many of those same "terrorist threats" would have made a point to wait again for as long as it took to offer condolences and hugs to the widows and fatherless children, faces still wet with tears.

Economic Literacy?

GMU Economist Dan Klein, who introduced me to Hayek’s spontaneous order with a wonderful essay he called Rinkonomics, today writes that: “The left flunks Econ 101.”
Klein and a Zogby researcher reviewed 4,835 people’s answers to eight simple economic principles, like:
“‘Restrictions on housing development make housing less affordable.’ People were asked if they: 1) strongly agree; 2) somewhat agree; 3) somewhat disagree; 4) strongly disagree; 5) are not sure.”
This seems like a no-brainer. Restrictions make anything less affordable. Yet the: “percentage of conservatives answering incorrectly was 22.3%, very conservatives 17.6% and libertarians 15.7%.
But the percentage of progressive/very liberals answering incorrectly was 67.6% and liberals 60.1% ...
The other questions were:
1) Mandatory licensing of professional services increases the prices of those services (unenlightened answer: disagree).
2) Overall, the standard of living is higher today than it was 30 years ago (unenlightened answer: disagree).
3) Rent control leads to housing shortages (unenlightened answer: disagree).
4) A company with the largest market share is a monopoly (unenlightened answer: agree).
5) Third World workers working for American companies overseas are being exploited (unenlightened answer: agree).
6) Free trade leads to unemployment (unenlightened answer: agree).
7) Minimum wage laws raise unemployment (unenlightened answer: disagree).”
Please. These are obvious. Who could get these wrong? Sadly, lots of people.

Republicans averaged 1.61 incorrect, and
Libertarians 1.26 incorrect.”

Blacks Only
Whites Excluded.
An African American principal took only the African American children on a field trip to hear an African American rocket scientist speak to the students. White students were excluded from the trip at this Ann Arbor school.
Can you even begin to imagine the uproar had a White American principal taken only the White American students to hear a White American rocket scientist speak. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been on that Principal and the Board of Education in a heart beat demanding that he/she be fired.
Who know what other kinds of politically motivated teaching are going on behind closed doors from pre-school through college. We know that many city teachers support and promote political correctness, once-sided explanations of current events, union seniority over competence, environmental hoaxes with a politically left bias and slant in their teachings.
This is not education. This is indoctrination as has be done by Chairman Mao, Fidel Casto, the old USSR and their followers.
Is it any wonder that schools are losing students and tax dollars as parents flee these corrupt teaching environments. What conscientious parent would risk subjecting their offspring to such bigotry and favoritism in these politically-charged times.

Knowing of my interest in oddball warning labels, reader Clark S. alerts me to this $4.95 paperback copy of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Articles of Confederation, which contains the following advisory.

This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.

A bit of Googling revealed that the same publisher slaps the same boilerplate language on other reprints including the Federalist Papers and The Great Heresies by Hilaire Belloc. Do they perhaps put it on all works composed before a certain cut-off date? Wilder Publications is described here as in the business of “publishing print-on-demand books (mostly self-help and public domain reprints).”
I am happy to report that the Cato Institute’s excellent pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution daringly omits any warning and lets readers take the Constitution straight up.

(CNSNews.com) - Thanks to an advertiser who wishes to remain anonymous, cars and trucks on Arizona Highway 260 in East Central Arizona are driving by a billboard advertisement that recently went up, bearing President Obama’s face on a mock U.S. $100,000,000,000,000 (One-Hundred Trillion Dollar) bill.
The billboard’s caption: “But Who Will Pay the Piper?”
Chuck Perrine of Jones Outdoor advertising in Tucson, Ariz., confirmed to CNSNews.com that his company created the 10 ft- by-40 ft. billboard, which he said “went up within the last month.”
Perrine said the sign is located “near Linden (Ariz.),” but said that the advertiser is “not interested” in disclosing any further information about his identity--or his reason for purchasing the ad.
“I’m sorry, I can’t give you any information about the advertiser whatsoever,” Perrine told CNSNews.com Monday. “That’s part of his contract with us.”
The Office of Management and Budget in Obama's White House estimates that the federal deficit this year will be 10.6 percent of GDP, making fiscal 2010 the first fiscal year since the end of World War II that the federal deficit has reached double digits as a share of GDP.
The billboard, which was rented for an undisclosed sum, will remain up for an undisclosed period of time, Perrine said.

Obama Secy of Education Arne Duncan hopes to get $23 billion more from Congress to the states for teachers to prevent a catastrophe. Earlier, states were sent $100 billion that saved 342,000 school teacher and staff jobs. If they do not get this $23 billion, more teachers and staff will lose their jobs.
K-12 spending has doubled since 2000. The education emergency and dependency has become routine and perpetual.
From 2001 to 2007, the number of teachers rose and the number of students declined in 12 states.
In six other states, teacher hiring increased faster than student growth.
In Virginia, the number of teachers grew by 21 per cent while student growth was at 5 per cent.
In Florida, the number of teachers grew by 20 per cent while student growth was at 6 per cent.
In North Carolina, the number of teachers grew by 22 per cent while student growth was at 9 per cent.
During this continuing [Bush] recession that huge [Democrat] bailouts have failed to stop, private sector job-loss comes in at around 8.5 million while government job loss is at 141,000.
Note from the right jack. One might be able to see that union jobs in union schools are being paid for by US Tax Payers dollars from the private sector.
This is happening under the guise of educational emergencies. The same Democrat strategy was used when Bush 41 was the President. Republicans tried to reduce the “rate of growth” of our big spending government. That is, spending rose each year but Republicans were not able to cut the rate of spending. This did not mean cutting the budget. It was cutting the rate of growth from 10 per cent to 5 per cent. Do you see the difference?
Democrat strategy was to call a cut in the rate of growth a budget cut. It worked. Democrats won the day with this fallacious argument.
We know that Big Democrat Sugar Daddy Government will continue to pump tax payer dollars into the unions and their other supporters. This fiscal madness must stop. The USA is broke and we all know it. Like the global warming hoax, this inconvenient fact is not going to stop Democrat spending.

The latest statistics from the Small Business Administration (SBA) show that "two-thirds of new employer establishments survive at lease two years, and 44 percent survive at least four years." This is a far cry from the previous long-held belief that 50 percent of businesses fail in the first year and 95 percent fail within five years.

Comrades flocked to New York City two weeks ago for the 29th national convention of the Communist Party USA. While reviewing materials from the event, we had a sudden sense of déjà vu: the feeling that we had heard these talking points before. Maybe you have as well — they’re espoused, in near identical form, by the president and his fellow Democrats. Take the quiz below, and try to determine which quotes were uttered by Democratic leadership, and which are excerpts from the communists’ recent convention.
The point isn’t that Obama’s a communist (though it’s amusing to watch Sam Webb, chairman of the CPUSA, deny such a charge while arguing with Glenn Beck about the redistribution of marshmallow peeps). It’s useful, though, to compare the substance of Democratic and communist rhetoric, which differs mainly in degree. You may conclude — especially if you lean left — that the Communist Party USA is more moderate and mainstream than you thought. Or something.

Obama the Clueless
Conservatives are so enraged at Obama's socialism and radicalism that they are increasingly surprised to learn that he is incompetent as well. The sight of his blithering and blustering while the most massive oil spill in history moves closer to America's beaches not only reminds one of Bush's terrible performance during Katrina, but calls to mind Jimmy Carter's incompetence in the face of the hostage crisis.
America is watching the president alternate between wringing his hands in helplessness and pointing his finger in blame when he should be solving the most pressing environmental problem America has faced in the past 50 years. We are watching generations of environmental protection swept away as marshes, fisheries, vacation spots, recreational beaches, wetlands, hatcheries and sanctuaries fall prey to the oil spill invasion. And, all the while, the president acts like a spectator, interrupting his basketball games only to excoriate BP for its failure to contain the spill.
The political fallout from the oil spill will, indeed, spill across party and ideological lines. The environmentalists of America cannot take heart from a president so obviously ignorant about how to protect our shores and so obstinately arrogant that he refuses to inform himself and take any responsibility.
All of this explains why the oil spill is seeping into his ratings among Democrats, dragging him down to levels we have not seen since Bush during the pit of the Iraq war. Conservatives may dislike Obama because he is a leftist. But liberals are coming to dislike him because he is not a competent progressive.
Meanwhile, the nation watches nervously as the same policies Obama has brought to our nation are failing badly and publicly in Europe. When Moody's announces that it is considering downgrading bonds issued by the government of the United States of America, we find ourselves, suddenly, in deep trouble. We have had deficits before. But never have they so freaked investors that a ratings agency considered lowering its opinion of our solvency. Not since Alexander Hamilton assumed the states' Revolutionary War debt has America's willingness and ability to meet its financial obligations been as seriously questioned.
And the truth begins to dawn on all of us: Obama has no more idea how to work his way out of the economic mess into which his policies have plunged us than he does about how to clean up the oil spill that is destroying our southern coastline.
Both the financial crisis and the oil come ever closer to our shores -- one from the east and the other from the south -- and, between them, they loom as a testament to the incompetence of our government and of its president.
And, oddly, to his passivity as well. After pursuing a remarkably activist, if misguided and foolhardy, agenda, Obama seems not to know what to do and finds himself consigned to the roles of observer and critic.
America is getting the point that its president doesn't have a clue.
He doesn't know how to stop the oil from spilling. He is bereft of ideas about how to create jobs in the aftermath of the recession. He has no idea how to keep the European financial crisis contained. He has no program for repaying the massive debt hole into which he has dug our nation without tax increases he must know will only deepen the pit.
Some presidents have failed because of their stubbornness (Johnson and Bush-43). Others because of their character flaws (Clinton and Nixon). Still others because of their insensitivity to domestic problems (Bush-41). But now we have a president who is failing because he is incompetent. It is Jimmy Carter all over again.
Who would have thought that this president, so anxious to lead us and so focused on his specific agenda and ideas, would turn out not to know what he is doing?
