Partisanship and media spin

No question about it, Republicans are to blame.

When Republicans are in power, Republicans are weak and worthy of every negative insult that can be hurled in their direction by those from the other party and their subservient media. Democrats are usually considered high-minded, nearly perfect and without blame.

When Democrats are in power, and Democrats show, shall we call it, weaknesses, both Democrats and Republicans are regarded as weak and worthy of all of the negative media attention that can be hurled in their collective direction. Both parties are far from perfect and deserving of blame. Collective political blame is the key concept.

Republicans are weak or both parties are weak. Democrats alone seldom if ever demonstrate weaknesses. It is the media’s “spread the blame” motives that takes faultering Democrats off the hook with the unquestioning masses.

Similarly, all Republican are considered dumb or stupid by the media, GOP presidents in particular. All Republicans are said to have no concern for the environment, teachers, the people, seniors, the poor, minorities, the children, women and mothers. Terms like racist, sexist, bigot and homophobe are applied only to Republicans.

Partisan spin has been a necessary way of life for the media in dictatorial regimes, since there were dictators. Non-conformists disappear. In the USA, they are lucky. They only become social outcasts. =TheRight Jack on 10/8/11
