Health Care in Europe and Canada

.
In England if you are over 50 years old and have breast cancer you cannot get chemo or radiation treatment. The government has decided that it is too costly!! If you are lucky enough to have money of course you can still get treatment.

In Canada they do not allow people with money to get private treatment so they all come to the good old USA. This is only one example of why I do not want us to follow in the footsteps of these two countries healthcare system.

PLEASE READ "Senior" status is something we all face (IF we are lucky), so read this. Especially note Tom Daschle's statement about the elderly! Then forward, like I'm doing!

Everybody that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting close or knows somebody that is. Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus" bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former Senator and tax evader, Tom Daschle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement.

"Daschle says health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that Senators and Congressmen have their own health care plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.

Our Senate and Congress do not pay into Social Security. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan.

In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan. For all practical purposes their plan works like this:

When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die. Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments.

For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275, 000.00 during the last years of their lives. This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two dignitaries. Younger dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives! Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA..! ZILCH...

This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds; OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK! From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into, every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer). We can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator Bill Bradley's benefits!

Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made. That change would be to: Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us! Then sit back and see how fast they would fix it!

Editor’s Note from The Right Jack: Remember, for Democrats to make their socialist version of health care work financially, seniors (starting at what ever age THEY decide makes their numbers work), must be denied health care. That is, health care bureaucrats are not going to “waste” money on those who are considered elderly, regardless of their health status.

The generally accepted health care strategy is first to have our seniors wait and wait and wait for examinations. Then secondly, have them wait even longer for treatment. What a devious and diabolical way to conserve tax dollars while making those who are covered dependent on government for their care. This crop of Democrats has learned how to do this from the failed socialist health care systems in Europe and Canada.

By the way, have you ever considered that the members of Congress should to have term limits, that they should not be allowed to vote pay raises for themselves, not vote health care benefits and other perks for themselves, and not be given pensions at all. Now that would be refreshing since they are generally opposed to groups monitoring and policing their own profession. What would it take to make that happen. Ooops! Remember, they are all lawyers and lawyers get a free pass by the current Democrat administration.
