Snapshot by the numbers
70 per cent of 172 million people have private coverage
1300 companies provide health care insurance with costs coming down due to competition in the marketplace
2003 Medicare prescription drug entitlement enjoys 87 per cent approval rating as competition has reduced costs
70 per cent of insured Americans rate their health care good or excellent
Claims are that there are 45.7 uninsured people in the USA. Of these
20 million are workers who are changing jobs with fluctuating insurance coverages
39 per cent live in five high immigration states [AZ, CA, FL, NM TX]
21 per cent or 9.7 million of the uninsured are not citizens
20 per cent or 9.1 million have incomes of at least $75,000 and have chosen to not purchase health care insurance
