Obama and the Democrats are careful to avoid any mention of lawyers and tort reform in connection with health care. The medical community and business know that they must spend billions of dollars annually to protect themselves from law suits brought against them by trial lawyers.
The trial system is full of ambulance chasers. It is rigged against doctors, hospitals and business. To be accused, whether guilty or not, means settlement or jury trial. In trials, juries commonly favor the person bringing forth the suit. Large financial awards from insurance companies are the prize. So, large settlements are common even when no wrongful acts of commission or omissions are found.
Trial lawyers are large contributors to Obama and other Democrats. Remember, a majority of the members of Congress are lawyers. The very first step in making a significant change in our current health care system is to put a cap on settlements and awards. ... the right jack
