Why "hush and rush" legislation through Congress?

Why are the Democrats so intent on getting unread legislation through Congress. My simplistic explanation of their “hush and rush” strategy goes like this.

Many citizens have very short memories. They know this and are counting on it. So, Democrats are working feverishly to get these billions of dollars in legislation through the House and Senate in the first few months of the Obama administration. Then by the time the 2010 and 2012 elections roll around, the sting of these painful legislative actions will be mostly forgotten.

Their hush and rush policy has nothing to do with the need for health care reforms. It is all about our collective forgetfulness.

It appears that all of these legislative acts have been written so that they cannot be reversed. So, failure to remember these killer legislative acts written by Democrats and voters will have their rest of their lives to repent.
